Neuroscience Center to Host Open House: May 4
You have probably heard that St. Alexius Medical Center is establishing a new center of excellence. The St. Alexius Neuroscience Center is a new concept in patient care within Specialty Clinics. Patients will benefit from a multi-disciplinary team approach to the management of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, migraines, sleep disorders, stroke, chronic pain and brain and spine injuries, among others.
St. Alexius has brought together a full complement of specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, psychology, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation who work together to provide diagnosis and treatment of the whole person. Patients with neurological disorders benefit by having a team of specialists review their case and recommend treatment.
To acquaint staff and the public with this concept, The St. Alexius Neuroscience Center will be hosting an open house, Wednesday, May 4, in Boniface Auditorium. Employees are invited to attend from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while both employees and the public are invited from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Attendees will learn more about specific neurological disorders, as well as all the departments involved in the Neuroscience Center. Specialty Clinics, Rehabilitation Center, Stroke Center, Electroneurodiagnostics, Sleep Center, the Pain Clinic, Clinical Research Services and Archway Mental Health, all will host booths at the Open House.
Please join us for the St. Alexius Neuroscience Center Open House. Information will be available and refreshments will be served. See you there!
In conjunction with the Open House, free information sessions will be held regarding “Advance Directives-Living Wills and Powers of Attorney for Healthcare.” Here you can learn about how to avoid a situation like the Terri Schiavo case, find out who needs to have copies of your documents, and free forms will be available. Two sessions will be held, one from 5-6 p.m. and one from 7-8 p.m. in the St. Alexius Cafeteria Meeting Rooms. These information sessions are free, open to all ages, and there is no pre-registration required.
