GPRS Offering CPAP Clinic
Posted on 11/19/2006
Great Plain Rehabilitation Services (GPRS) at St. Alexius Medical Center is taking an active approach to assist their obstructive sleep apnea patients who use CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) and BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) therapies by offering a CPAP clinic. This clinic is in response to customers need for follow-up services. Many customers experience complications of inappropriate application, care, maintenance and a need to repair/replace CPAP/BiPAP equipment and supplies.
The CPAP clinic is conducted on Tuesdays. During a 30 minute appointment a respiratory therapist assesses the customer’s CPAP/BiPAP equipment for proper function and settings, proper fit of mask and headgear application and need for replacement of supplies. Customer compliance with physician prescription is also assessed and if necessary, corrective action is taken to assist in improving patient compliance. The GPRS respiratory therapist also provides education and support.
There is no cost associated with the assessment, however, any recommendation for replacement or repair requires payment and may be covered by insurance or may be the customer’s responsibility.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea patients who currently receive CPAP/BiPAP therapy are encouraged to call Great Plains Rehabilitation Services for additional information. Please call 800-222-4989 or 701-530-4000 and ask for Respiratory Care to make an appointment.
