Quilters Donate to St. Alexius

Posted on 11/23/2006

As we are approaching this holiday season, it is important to take the time to think about those who may be in a tough situation. For the Washburn Area Comfort Quilters, giving is what they do.

Recently, the quilters, started by Jackie Olson of Washburn, donated five prayer quilts to St. Alexius Medical Center. The quilts were donated by the grandmother of Jaden Van Hoorn, a 16-year old patient that was in the ICU for a long period of time at St. Alexius last winter. The quilts are to be given to patients like Jaden who are in the ICU for a long stay and need something “homey” to have with them.

The Washburn Area Comfort Quilters are women from the Washburn community. They have been sewing quilts either in their homes or at workshops since September 12, 2005. Their goal is to share God’s word with comfort and wrapping the recipients in God’s love.
