St. Alexius’ Women’s Imaging Center offers a comprehensive range of services while remaining focused on delivering individualized care. You can feel at ease in the private, warm and spa-like imaging area. Our all-female staff is experienced and sensitive to each patient’s needs. In addition, we can address multiple imaging services within the one easy-to-access area in the Medical Center.
St. Alexius’ women’s imaging services offer patients the newest digital and diagnostic equipment. We have invested in advanced technology in order to produce high-quality images to help facilitate a fast, accurate diagnosis. Our services include digital mammography, stereotactic biopsy, DEXA scan, ultrasound and breast localization. Breast MRI is also available.

MAMMOGRAPHY
Digital mammography uses low dose x-rays to produce diagnostic images of the breast tissue. A study sponsored by the National Cancer Institute revealed that digital mammography detects up to 28 percent more cancers than traditional mammography. STEREOTACTIC BREAST BIOPSY
Stereotactic breast biopsy uses a special mammography machine to plot the exact location of suspicious breast tissue and guide the placement of the biopsy needle. Tissue is removed for further examination to determine a diagnosis.List of procedures:

BONE DENSITY SCAN (DEXA)
Special x-ray equipment is used to measure bone mineral density. Results can be used by physicians to estimate the amount of bone loss due to osteoporosis, to track the rate of bone loss over a specific time period and to estimate the risk of fractures.List of procedures:
