Kriengkrairut, Somsak – MD

Dr. Somsak Kriengkrairut joined the Heart & Lung Clinic Division of Pulmonary Medicine in July 1991. He is a specialist in management of breathing disorders including asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, lung cancer, occupational lung disease, sleep apnea, etc. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and geriatric medicine.

Dr. Kriengkrairut received his medical degree from Siriraj Hospital School of Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. He completed one year of rotating internship and two years of general practice under government assignment. He then went on to complete an internal medicine residency program at Raritan Bay Medical Center/ UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey, and a pulmonary disease fellowship program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center/UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey.

Prior to joining the Heart & Lung Clinic, Dr. Kriengkrairut had an active private and institutional practice in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine in New York City. He was affiliated with the New York Medical College as clinical instructor and pulmonary consultant in 1987-1988 and also medical director of the Respiratory Care Department and Pulmonary Function Laboratory at Coler Memorial Hospital, New York City Health and Hospital Corporation in 1989-1991. He also worked as a full-time intensivist in Brooklyn, New York, between 1987-1991.

Dr. Kriengkrairut is a Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians, a clinical professor of UND School of Medicine, Southwest Campus, and licensed to practice medicine in New York, New Jersey and North Dakota.
