Dr. Karls joined the Gastroenterology Department at Mid Dakota Clinic PrimeCare in July 2010.
Originally from Bismarck, ND, Dr. Karls graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mary with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He went on to complete Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, where he was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Prior to joining the Clinic, Dr. Karls completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Dr. Karls is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Karls is licensed to practice medicine in the states of North Dakota, Minnesota and Indiana.
