Dr. Patricio Fernandez is a pediatric cardiologist and neonatologist at St. Alexius Medical Center. He is board certified in pediatric cardiology, neonatology and pediatrics. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Fernandez completed is Doctor of Medicine at La Salle University in Mexico City. He finished his pediatric residency at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Texas A&M University, in Corpus Christi, Texas, a neonatology fellowship at University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington, Ky., and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md., and at UCSD Medical Center, University of California, San Diego. He completed an ECMO fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center, George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and an interventional pediatric cardiology fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.
Before coming to Bismarck, Dr. Fernandez practiced pediatrics, neonatology and pediatric cardiology in Mexico City, Mexico; Toronto, Canada; and Corpus Christi, Texas. He holds active medical licenses in Mexico, Ontario, Canada, as well as Texas and North Dakota. He has performed more than 500 interventional pediatric cardiology procedures.
Dr. Fernandez serves as a clinical associate professor at University of North Dakota School of Medicine in the department of pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association. His main interests are interventional pediatric cardiology, fetal cardiology, neonatal cardiology, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn and high frequency oscillatory ventilation.
