
Dr. Mike Booth joined the Heart & Lung Clinic in 1989. He specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, with special interests in pediatric thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery and cardiac pacing.
A native of Fulton, N.Y., Dr. Booth attended Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD., where he received a Bachelor of Art and Doctor of Medicine. He served his general surgery residency at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. At U of M, Dr. Booth performed graduate work in cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology with the late Irwin J. Fox, for which he received his Doctor of Philosophy and an NIH National Research Service Award. He then served his residency in thoracic surgery at Albany Medical Center, where he also served as an instructor in surgery.
Dr. Booth is certified by American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He also holds a NASPE Certificate in cardiac pacing and cardioversion defibrillation. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Association for Surgical Education and North Dakota Medical Association. Dr. Booth also serves as a clinical professor of surgery for the University of North Dakota, and is the author of more than 20 articles in cardiovascular physiology and thoracic surgery.
