Public Invited to Balance & Dizziness Center Open House

Posted on 2/13/2006

Members of the media, as well as the public, are invited to attend an Open House for the new St. Alexius Balance & Dizziness Center, a division of its Neuroscience Center, on Wednesday, February 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The St. Alexius Balance & Dizziness Center is a physical therapy-based clinic located in the Human Performance Center that offers specific evaluation and treatment for individuals with symptoms of dizziness or imbalance. The Center is the only clinic in North Dakota to offer Computerized Dynamic Posturography, a test that evaluates your ability to maintain balance in a variety of conditions and prints a graphic report of your results. With that report and a full evaluation, physical therapists design a custom treatment program that is specific to each individual’s needs.

Complaints of dizziness and imbalance are very common. The National Institute of Health says 42% of all Americans will see a physician because of a balance or dizziness disorder at some point in their lives. Some of the most common causes for dizziness and balance problems are inner ear disorders, age-related changes, head trauma, stroke, infections, medications and diabetes.

You are invited to see the intriguing new Computerized Dynamic Posturography equipment in use as the walls and floor move, perhaps put your own balance skills to the test!
