By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s national standards for health care quality and safety, St. Alexius Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of St. Alexius Medical Center on November 10-14, 2008 . The accreditation award recognizes St. Alexius Medical Center’s dedication to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis.
“Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic or organization-wide improvement in an organization’s performance and the outcomes of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. “The community should be proud that St. Alexius Medical Center is focusing on the most challenging goal- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels.”
St. Alexius has earned continuous accreditation from the Joint Commission since 1952 and also is the only Joint Commission accredited Stroke Center in North Dakota.
St. Alexius Medical Center’s expectation of excellence also has been rewarded by Thomson Reuters, a national healthcare quality rating company, as one of the nation’s top hospitals in cardiac care and by the earning Magnet accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
St. Alexius Medical Center is a 308-bed, full-service medical center founded in 1885, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Benedict of the Annunciation Monastery.
