St. Alexius Explores Community Health Care Needs

More than 120 community and health service leaders responded to a survey, providing their insights into the community’s health care needs. Based on survey results, the St. Alexius Community Health Program and its director, Rodger Wetzel, will focus on finding ways to increase access to affordable prescription medications for persons with limited incomes, and to ensuring more infants and children receive proper immunizations. The third priority emphasizes increased use of preventing health screening services.

“We will be looking at what we can do to address these issues to make a difference in the community,” Wetzel said. He will start by convening three community task forces.

St. Alexius will also be loaning its support to two other issues addressed by other community organizations: reducing the use of tobacco products, with special emphasis on school children, and increasing the availability of dental services to low-income persons.
