Bioterrorism – St. Alexius is Prepared

Bioterrorism and chemical response is something many of us didn’t think about until 911, but it’s on the front lines now. St. Alexius Medical Center is in the top 10% of nationally prepared hospitals…thanks to years of work before 9-11.

Derek Hanson, Safety Officer: “We’ve been preparing for the past 6 years so we can be ready for the community in any type of situation.”

St. Alexius is prepared in a number of ways.

* St.A’s has expanded security throughout the medical center.

* They communicate regularly with State Agencies.

* They’ve added even more patient decontamination equipment to their stock.

* Plus, they were the first hospital in Western North Dakota to have patient decontamination rooms, and they currently have the only one that’s lead-lined in the state.

So if the unthinkable should happen, you can depend on St. Alexius.
