Caring For the Caregiver Workshop Scheduled for May 23

The St. Alexius 6th Annual “Caring for the Caregiver” Workshop will be held on Thursday,May 23, 2002, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Radisson Inn Conference Center, in Bismarck, N.D. The workshop is sponsored by the St. Alexius Eldercare Program.

8:30 a.m. Workshop Registration (refreshments, register for door prizes, visit booths)

9:00 a.m. Welcome/Opening Remarks Rodger Wetzel, MPA, LSW, HCA/C, Director, Community Health and Eldercare, St. Alexius Medical Center

9:15 a.m. “Healthy Caregiving” Gretchen Everson, BSW, LSW, Regional Center Director, Minnesota-Dakotas Chapter Alzheimer’s Association

10:05 a.m. BREAK (coffee, visit booths)

10:20 a.m. “Caring for Those Near the End-of-Life” Tess Frohlich, LSW, Project Coordinator, North Dakota Matters of Life and Death

11:10 a.m. “Caring for Your Spiritual Health Sr. Susan Lardy, OSB, Mission Effectiveness Coordinator, St. Alexius Medical Center

1:00 p.m. “North Dakota Family Caregiver Support Program” Nancy Schantz, BBS, MS, Program Administrator, Aging Services Division, NDDHS

TARGET AUDIENCE: Family caregivers, certified nurse assistants, home health aids, homemakers, social workers, senior companions, personal care staff, and other caregivers. (Family caregiver scholarships available for family caregivers on request.)

CONTINUING EDUCATION: St. Alexius Medical Center is an approved provider of Social Worker continuing education. Social Workers will receive 5.0 CEU’s. Certificates of Attendance will be issued to all participants.

Fee: $10 per person/$12 after May 15, 2002(Includes luncheon and health breaks)
