Lloyd W. Blake, MD, FCCP is a an intensivist who works primarily in the St. Alexius Intensive Care Unit (ICU). An Intensivist is a physician trained specifically in the care of critically ill patients, who spends all or the majority of his time exclusively in the intensive care unit. ICUs with Intensivists generally have better outcomes compared to those without. It is estimated that less than fifteen(15) percent of all hospitals in the United States have Intensivists working in their ICUs. Blake is board certified in Critical Care Medicine; Sleep Medicine; Pulmonary Medicine and Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine; the Society of Critical Care Medicine; the American College of Chest Physicians; the American Thoracic Society and the American Medical Association. Blake received a Bachelor of Arts degree in German from City University of New York at Hunter College and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, NY. Blake is married with three children and enjoys the Mandolin, Guitar and Astronomy.
