Four More Specialists Join PrimeCare

The PrimeCare health group is pleased to introduce four physicians who have recently joined the network. They are Wimal Perera, MD, Shelley A. Killen, MD, Michael R. Moore, MD and Keith Happel, MD.

Dr. Wimal Perera, a neurosurgeon, has joined the Neurosurgery Clinic at St. Alexius Medical Center. Dr. Perera specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases or trauma to the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord and nerves. A surgery graduate of the University of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Dr. Perera completed general surgical residencies at General Hospital in Colombo, Ceylon; General Hospital in South Shields, England; and Royal Free Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital at the University of London in England. He completed four years of neurosurgical residencies at Affiliated Hospitals of the State University of New York at Buffalo. A diplomate of the American Board of Neurosurgery, Dr. Perera also is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England).

Physiatrist Dr. Shelley A. Killen is the newest rehabilitation specialist at the Physical Medicine Clinic at St. Alexius Medical Center. Dr. Killen evaluates and treats neck and back pain , muscle and nerve pain, amputations, sports injuries and chronic pain. After earning a medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Dr. Killen completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and an internship at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio. Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Killen is also a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a fellow of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Spinal surgeon and back pain specialist Dr. Michael R. Moore has joined the Bone & Joint Center. Dr. Moore is nationally regarded for his experience with state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of adult and pediatric spine problems, including scoliosis. He has published numerous articles as well as two Internet websites with information about spine problems that can be accessed from the Bone & Joint Center website at www.bone-joint.com. Dr. Moore earned a medical degree at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at the Center for Spinal Surgery in Lakewood, Colo. Dr. Moore is certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Board of Spine Surgery.

Dr. Keith Happel has joined the internal medicine specialists at Mid Dakota Clinic. Dr. Happel diagnoses and treats a wide variety of diseases in adults, and emphasizes cardiovascular risk factor modification in his practice. A native of England, Dr. Happel previously practiced in Minot and Valley City. Dr. Happel is a graduate of St. Thomas’s Hospital Medical School at the University of London. He completed residencies at the Royal Colleges of England and London and at Foothills Hospital at the University of Calgary in Alberta. Dr. Happel is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
