Online Doctor Appointments Now Available
Posted on 6/1/2000
Now you can request an appointment any time of the day or night. St. Alexius Medical Center, Mid Dakota Clinic, Heart & Lung Clinic, The Bone & Joint Center and other members of the PrimeCare health group have added an online appointment feature to the PrimeCare web site. The service is the first in the area that offers patients a convenient way to request appointments with PrimeCare doctors.
“Health care is emerging as one of the top reasons people use the Internet,” says Mike Tomasko, a PrimeCare administrator. “The addition of this service provides PrimeCare patients with convenient access to appointments. The service is just one example of how PrimeCare members are using information technology to improve health care.”
To make an online appointment, log onto www.primecare.org. You can also make online appointments at these sites:
www.st.alexius.org
www.middakotaclinic.com
www.heartlungclinic.com or
www.bone-joint.com
Select the “Online Appointments” icon, then complete a simple form which is electronically submitted to PrimeCare’s centralized scheduling center. The scheduling staff finalizes arrangements and sends a confirmation of the appointment to you within the next business day. The online appointment’s service is designed for non- emergency appointment requests.
If you have any questions regarding online appointments, call PrimeCare Centralized Scheduling Center at 530-5550.
America’s Doctor Online
Confidential access to reliable health information in the comfort of your own home- a physician at your fingertips. That’s what the St. Alexius web site provides with the addition of America’s Doctor’s Online. This unique online service provides real-time interaction between you and a physician to answer basic health care questions, explain medical conditions and provide referrals. The online physician cannot diagnose, prescribe medications, provide follow-up care or keep records, but will provide medical information in terms you can understand. You will have the opportunity to be referred to a local physician or other resource. The service is free and allows you to chat with a primary care physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It provides you with easier access to doctors and medical information.
To access America’s Doctor, go to the St. Alexius web site (www.St.Alexius.org). Click on the “Chat with a Doctor” icon and you’ll be sent to the America’s Doctor home page sponsored by St. Alexius. From here, you will have a variety of options from which to choose, including Ask-A-Doc and a medical library which allows you to access thousands of easy to read articles on topics of special interest to you, family members and friends.
Your Link to Health Information and More
“The internet provides the convenience of accessing health information from your home or workplace,” says Mike Mabin, director of Communications at St. Alexius Medical Center. “People also value privacy as they gather information to help determine the best course of action to improve their own health or that of family members. The St. Alexius site can help streamline your search for healthcare information.
Birth Place Babies
Parents who deliver at The Birth Place have a new way to spread the news – the internet. Parents who wish to have their babies shown on the St. Alexius website provide the basics: first and middle name, length, weight, time and date of birth and their prediction of the baby’s future.
Friends and family simply log on to the St. Alexius home page, click on the Birth Place Babies icon, and then go to the online nursery. The baby is identified by date of birth and first name, a photo and the information provided by the parents is on screen and ready to print.
