GPRS offers education/discussion group for amputees

Posted on 9/12/2000

The staff at Great Plains Rehabilitation Services have found another way to fill a need in the community, in fact, North Dakota itself. They have formed the first Amputee Education and Discussion Group in North Dakota. Facilitated by healthcare professionals, the meetings offer a supportive and educational atmosphere where amputees and their loved ones can meet with others who share similar experiences. The purpose of these meetings is to help individuals deal with the emotional and physical side effects of having an amputation.

Individuals are able to ask questions about prosthetics (artificial limbs) and be educated on the latest products and procedures associated with the field of prosthetics. In essence, the meetings support our mission to, “Let all be received as Christ,” and promote healing presence, “An atmosphere that affirms the whole person; body, mind and spirit.”
The Amputee Education and Discussion Group meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., in the Great Plains Rehabilitation Services meeting room (1212 East Main, east side of building). For more information, please call GPRS at 530-4000 or 530-8189.
