Neurofeedback Helps When Some Therapies Don’t

Posted on 8/10/2003

You can exercise your brain. Neurofeedback trains brain behavior. If someone has attention deficit disorder, the left side of the brain has a slower brain wave pattern. With neurofeedback, the brain can be exercised at a higher, more efficient pattern, reducing the symptoms.

A client watches a video game. The game will move when the brain is in the desired brain wave pattern, re-enforcing the proper brain wave pattern. The effect is the same as medication.

Wendy Schaefer: “Our son was diagnosed with Tourettes, ADHD, Depression, and anxiety, and since starting the neurofeedback, we’ve been able to take him off of all of his medicine and it’s nice to be able to do that for your child.

Neurofeedback can also help treat hyperactivity, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and bedwetting. You can find it at the St. Alexius Center for Integrated Medicine.
