Over the Hedge and into Kohl’s: Special Merchandise to Support Kids Across the Country

Kohl’s brings entertainment to families while supporting children’s health and educational opportunities nationwide
Why wait for the highly anticipated summer blockbuster to open in theatres before getting a head start on the excitement? Beginning May 8, Kohl’s Department Stores is offering an “Over the Hedge” story book with corresponding character plush – RJ the raccoon and Verne the turtle.
Children will enjoy the fun and lighthearted tale of friendship and adventure as a mischievous raccoon and his forest creature friends venture over the hedge that separates them from a new suburban development that appeared over the winter while they were sleeping.
As part of its Kohl’s Cares for Kids® summer program, Kohl’s stores across the country will feature the special items for $5 each with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting children’s health and educational opportunities in Kohl’s communities nationwide. The items will also be available online at www.Kohls.com.
Locally, Kohl’s partners with St. Alexius Medical Center in supporting community education programs for children and families. Recently, Kohl’s Corporation informed the St. Alexius Foundation that it will be making a $4,213 donation to the Foundation. These funds are the profits from the sale of special stuffed animals and books at the Bismarck Kohl’s store during 2005. The funds will be used to support the 2007 “St. Alexius Children’s Fun and Health Day.”
Based on the movie, the story book version of the movie allows children to enjoy “Over the Hedge” time and time again. Further, kids can have their favorite characters sitting right next to them while reading.
