Rodger Wetzel, director of St. Alexius Eldercare, Community Health and Foundation, received the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award on June 14, 2006. This award is one of the state chamber’s highest honors, presented in recognition of the economic and technological advancement Wetzel has been involved in. Wetzel has helped develop the Community Elder Service Network, several coalitions and conferences, the Bismarck-Mandan transit system and is a 12-year United Way board member.
“Wetzel’s involvement in community activities shows his outstanding contribution to Bismarck and North Dakota,” said David Straley, vice president of governmental affairs for the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce. “His dedication to improving elder care and the Bismarck-Mandan transit system, among other involvements, make him a worthy candidate for the Community Leadership Award.”
Wetzel was surprised with the award at the St. Alexius monthly leadership meeting. “Eldercare is the fastest growing population,” said Wetzel. “And I certainly appreciate my work. It’s been such a great opportunity to collaborate with so many organizations in this community and the state. Thank you to this organization (St. Alexius), and its support of all of the organizations I have been involved in.” The North Dakota Chamber of Commerce is the state’s largest, most influential general business organization. It offers many programs and services to help businesses succeed in North Dakota.
