St. Alexius Foundation Receives Donation

Posted on 2/15/2007

The St. Alexius Medical Center Auxiliary contributed $25,000 to the St. Alexius Medical Center Foundation on January 23, 2007 during its annual meeting. This contribution reflects the purpose and tradition of the Auxiliary: to enhance the welfare of the medical center’s patients and visitors.

The Auxiliary, comprised of more than sixty men and women of all ages, operates the gift shop, as well as sponsors numerous events to raise the monies needed to underwrite special projects. Last year, the St. Alexius Auxiliary underwrote the new sound system in the chapel, assistive hearing devices for programs in the Auditorium, defibrillators, a recreational wood working table for rehab and also a hygiene chair for patient areas. The recent contribution will be designated to similar projects.

Auxiliary members also share their time and talents to create a healing environment within the medical center. Thanks to the Auxiliary, patients receive handmade holiday tray favors and prayer blankets. Orthopedic patients receive toe cozies and new December babies receive special blankets.

Currently, the St. Alexius Auxiliary has more sixty members and many of the members also serve as volunteers within the hospital. A $2 membership fee is required for those wishing to become a member of the Auxiliary. If you would like more information about the Auxiliary or would like to become a member, please call Jennie Bachmeier, President, at 701-255-2254.
