Kohl’s Department Sores announced today that they have donated $4,213 to help sponsor St. Alexius Medical Center’s Children’s Fun & Health Day. The funds were made possible through the sales of special gifts from the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program.
The gift will allow the children’s department to continue organizing and hosting Children’s Fun & Health Day. About 700 area 2nd grade students attend the event to learn about poison safety/prevention, stranger awareness, fire safety, nutrition education, backpack safety and ATV safety.
“The partnership that St. Alexius has with Kohl’s and the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program has really made it possible for St. Alexius to continue to offer Fun & Health Day to the second graders this year,” says Jody Benz, Director of the Children’s Unit at St. Alexius Medical Center. “We have hosted the event for 13 years now and each year it continues to get bigger and better.”
The donation was announced today at 8:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Eagles Club. The announcement included a small presentation by First Lady Mikey Hoeven about why it is important to make healthy decisions.
“Kohl’s introduced the Kohl’s Cares for Kids program to promote children’s health and educational opportunities, and is committed to playing an active role in the communities we serve,” said Julie Gardner, senior vice president of marketing for Kohl’s Department Stores.
