Posted on 4/15/2007

The volunteers at St. Alexius Medical Center continue to be a vital part in the day to day operations of the medical center. In 2006, volunteers contributed 17,772 hours!

Most of us don’t find time to fit volunteering into our busy schedules. But for the volunteers at St. Alexius it is just a way of life. And they might not be who you would suspect. There are at least 50 volunteers under the age of 25.

“People do care about their community, and their service proves it,” says Robin Thorstenson, Volunteer Coordinator at St. Alexius Medical Center. “Our volunteers are just amazing!”

There are 36 different roles/areas of the medical center where volunteers share their time and talent including assisting with the Well Baby Clinic, escorting patients to their unit, flower delivery, de-linting surgical towels, visiting with patients, providing music for the public, assisting with special events and creating prayer blankets/shawls, among many other services.

National Volunteer Week is April 15-21. Please join St. Alexius Medical Center is saluting all the volunteers who contribute their time and talents to the community.
