Sakakawea Medical Center to Purchase Clinics
Posted on 6/25/2007
Sakakawea Medical Center (SMC) of Hazen has reached an agreement with St. Alexius Medical Center to purchase their Hazen and Beulah clinics. In a joint effort to enhance the area communities by ensuring that access to high quality health care and services remains available and local, SMC will take control of the two clinics as of July 1st. St. Alexius will continue to care for the local communities by providing specialists and specialty services.
“Sakakawea Medical Center is committed to service excellence, and providing individualized care that exceeds the expectations of those we serve. Acquiring the St. Alexius clinics helps us to fulfill our Vision and Mission for health care in our communities, and allows us to continue to strengthen our partnerships with providers, like St. Alexius, to enhance coordination of care and improve system performance,” states Christie Obenauer, SMC Board Chairperson. “We are excited about growing health care services for the communities we serve, so we can continue to provide quality care close to home.”
Andrew L. Wilson, St. Alexius Medical Center CEO, agrees, “We feel that this agreement is positive for all involved and are pleased to be able to support Sakakawea Medical Center in helping keep the provision of health care local.”
Patients will notice little change in the transition, as physicians and staff will remain the same.
