Kilzer on ‘Most Influential’ List
Posted on 7/18/2007
Frank Kilzer, Vice President of Material and Facility Resources at St. Alexius Medical Center was recently featured as one of the ‘most influential’ people in healthcare supply chain management by Healthcare Purchasing News magazine.
Kilzer was recognized for pioneering the bar-coding system in healthcare supply chain management. It started 20 years ago when Kilzer purchased the first bar-code technology system designed for healthcare applications for St. Alexius. After a couple years of tweaking, St. Alexius installed computers equipped with bar code scanners in patient rooms to track medication and supply consumption at the bedside. This became a critical component for an efficient supply chain of the future, and this was in the early 90’s!
Twenty years later, some hospitals still do not have this technology, but Kilzer continues to set standards for an efficient supply chain in the healthcare setting.
