St. Alexius Celebrates Rehab Awareness in September
Posted on 9/10/2007
St. Alexius Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Department will be celebrating Rehab Awareness during the week of September 16-22, 2007.
The week is designed to promote the value of rehabilitation; highlight the capabilities of people with disabilities; to salute the professionals who provide service to people with disabilities; and to renew our nation’s commitment to fulfill the unmet needs of people with disabilities.
The Rehab department at St. Alexius has some special activities planned throughout the week including games, food and public awareness.
The Rehab department at St. Alexius Medical Center is a licensed, 18-bed inpatient unit. It is CARF (Comprehensive Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited. The center features a fully functional and furnished “daily living” apartment which helps patients make a more natural transition following discharge from the medical center; a large activity room for meetings, meals, family gatherings and special events such as anniversaries and birthday celebrations; all private rooms; handi-cap-accessible showers and bathrooms.
The majority of patients the Rehab Center sees have the following diagnosis: stroke, congenital deformity, major multiple trauma, brain injury, neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, amputation, femur fracture, polyarthritis and burns.
