St. Alexius is hosting a free program for parents called “The Happiest Baby on the Block.”

The program is nationally-recognized and designed to teach parents specific techniques for calming their infants. The ND Department of Health and Prevent Child Abuse ND have joined to make this program available in North Dakota.

The Happiest Baby on the Block” offers hands-on training with five simple techniques that activate the calming reflex, a virtual off-switch to crying that all babies are born with. The program also offers parents advice on maintaining a supportive network and discusses the importance of parents taking care of themselves.

Classes are offered the first Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and each third Wednesday of the month from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. All classes are held in the Lamaze classroom on the second floor. Parents are asked to register for the class by calling 530-7700 or register online.
