Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

The laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedure involves placing a silicone band around the upper part of the stomach. The band is attached to a port and a small pouch is created. The stomach holds less food and induces a feeling of satiety. The procedure generally takes less than an hour and can most often be done on an outpatient basis. Patients often return to work in 3-5 days.
The LAP-BAND System is Adjustable The silicone band placed around the stomach is hollow. It is filled with a saline solution that can be added or removed to make the band tighter or looser. Adjustments are made to meet individual weight loss needs.
